ICT4D is an international conference focusing on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) innovation and impact for developing countries. It provides a unique forum where academic and economic actors of the developing world can meet and exchange.

The research field covering ICT and development is fairly broad and includes among others the following themes:

- Communication and hardware

  • Wireless, ad-hoc, meshed, etc. networks
  • Mobile-based computing
  • Policies for communication access development
  • Sensor networks / alert systems
  • Networking and computing in challenged environment

- Business

  • ICT for micro/small businesses
  • Business support in shared environment
  • Interfacing with developed business methodologies
  • Social impact of ICT in developing countries

  • Interfaces for illiterate users

- Environment/Health

  • E-diagnosis, expert systems, e-medicine
  • Epidemiology, prevention
  • Sustainable Agriculture / Natural Resource Exploitation
  • Computer assisted agriculture

The conference is organized into three tracks:

RESEARCH TRACK

The Research Track consists of a high quality program of double-blind peer reviewed scientific publication covering all areas of ICT4D. Publications shall meet the 16 pages, single-column and other formating guidelines. Accepted papers will be published in the LNICST series by Springer, will recieve an ISBN and will be available online through Springer scientific web portal.

INDUSTRY TRACK

The Industry Track is an opportunity for economic actors of the developing world to present problematics, experiences and solutions while allowing to network with researcher and other industrials. Presentation will be selected on the basis of a two pages extended abstract.

DEMO TRACK

The Demo Track will provide visibility to research prototypes through a poster and demonstration. Contribution will be selected on the basis of a two pages presentation of the work being demonstrated.
